Toolbox Student Guide (WIP)

As the metals lab assistant for Brigham Young University, I was tasked to update a few of the courses projects to better fit the subjects the students would be learning in the metals processes class. We decided that a tool box would not only match the class curriculum but also be a useful item for the students to have throughout there engineering degree.

Steps

  • Design a toolbox out of sheet metal

  • Use parametric modeling to present a few different versions to the professor teaching the class.

  • Test it and rework it till the team was satisfied with its construction

  • Build an easy to follow step by step guide that future students could understand with confidence.

We did just that. The students were able to follow the guide with confidence. They folded and spot welded the main body of the toolbox, than designed, 3D modeled, and cast the handle. I'm proud to know that even though I am no longer a lab assistant at BYU, I was able to make a difference for those who come after me.
